His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew I is the Archbishop of Constantinople and the Ecumenical Patriarch, where he is the ‘primus inter pares’ among the heads of the Orthodox Churches.
He is often nicknamed the ‘Green Patriarch’ because of his commitment to safeguarding creation. He will be joining Pope Francis and other church leaders at the ecumenical prayer vigil in St Peter’s square on 30th September 2023.
